***Joe Ellis’ Tea Room Guide English Tea Room***
When this tea room moved location to a different part of the town, albeit a few minutes walk I was worried. They were originally in a prime location and I thought they will do themselves great harm. How wrong I was and how happy I was to be wrong!
Classical music playing, perhaps a trifle loud but the atmosphere of this tea room is still great.
Three parts to this tea room, one next to the counter, one at the back and a tea garden for those sunny days.
This is my second visit and this review is based on my latest visit which was on Monday 14 November 2011 at 1.15pm. The last visit I had tea and toasted tea-cakes with two friends in the tea garden.
I had a jacket potato with prawns and a pot of Assam tea. The jacket was very reasonably priced at £4 and the tea at £1.75. For dessert I had a toasted tea-cake. The lunch tasted just right. See photo for presentation. So for a little over £7, I had very good value for money all round.
A table cloth, chandeliers, old and new display add a touch and shows a relationship between an old English tea room moving within modern times.
The usual tea room menu and to my utter surprise, beautiful lace table cloths on display and for sale….I just love lace!
I am pleased to recommend this delightful English tea room; presented nicely with tons of free parking nearby, and a warm cozy feel. You will not be disappointed.
