Joe’s Updated Review for the Merriments Gardens Tea Room, Hurst Green. East Sussex
I revisited the Merriments Gardens Tea Room and was pleased that I did (See initial review)
Well, I was surprised! I made my way to the counter and was greeted half way across by a female member of staff who asked me to take a seat and she will come and take my order. Waitress service at last…wow, I am impressed.
I told the waitress that I was surprised that waitress service was now offered and she confirmed that it has now been introduced in the winter months, but was unclear whether it will be available during the busy summer months.
I had a jacket potato with prawns and it was served superbly with a salad ‘to die for’. Pot of tea, of course, supplemented it.
Meals consisted of; winter ploughman’s; prawn cocktail with lemon wedges and crusty bread; grilled goats cheese; roast pork chop; freshly baked baguettes and sandwiches. A specials board was available but I must say on the pricy side. Saying that, I am of the view that you get what you pay for and knowing Merriments, I know it will be worthwhile.
The usual cream teas, homemade scones, and children’s snacks were also available.
The tea room is rather clean, well presented and extremely nice and I have added some extra photographs to prove a nice layout below.
STATUS
Well, I am changing my recommendation to Highly Recommended and hope that Merriments Gardens Tea Room continues to provide excellent food and above all, waitress service.
Well done to Ali the manager and her team.
