***Joe Ellis’ Tea Room Guide English Tea Room***
Joe’s Review…
Another fine place just outside Ashford is the Beech Court Gardens and Tea Room which I regularly visit, either on my own or with Sandra at a weekend.
People that know me well will tell you that my favourite creature is a chicken and I have several of them myself and Beech Court have lots of chickens, cockerels and a dog just roaming and going about their business which really adds a special feel and are eager to eat your scraps if you have any left over!
They do Sunday roasts and the owner thinks it is best to telephone to book them as to ensure you are not disappointed. Sandwiches and large selections of cakes that are made onsite are always available. Strangely, teacakes are not offered or advertised but I ask for one and they some how seem to find me one with a pot of jam of course!
Beech Court Gardens & Tea Room is in fact a private residence which opens their gardens at a small cost to ensure its upkeep. They are really stunning and on occasions there are special events like the annual classic car show which has a live band and crafts and is an excellent day out which Sandra and I often enjoy. It’s another excuse for me to see the different range of chickens that are always there welcoming you, but be careful when you leave in case some have a little sleep under your car while you are enjoying yourself.
The owner is a nice person, like me, a little eccentric which really does add a special dimension to your visit. The staff are really pleasant and will try their best to cater for your exact needs.
Coach parties often arrive during the hot summer months which gives me another excuse to go around talking and meeting different kinds of people.
STATUS
I can fully recommend Beech Court Gardens & Tea Room; lots of car parking, toilets on ground level and nice and quiet.
UPDATE: 19 AUGUST 2010
Re-visited on Thursday 19 August 2010 late afternoon with Sandra. Lovely coach load of elderly folk which was enjoyable and we also met a lovely couple with with their children who had recently moved from South London to Charing, near Ashford....just another lovely afternoon at Beech Court Gardens and Tea Room!
