***Joe Ellis’ Tea Room Guide English Tea Room***
Joe’s Review…
Peter, my very good friend and colleague within karate resides in this beautiful English Wiltshire town known as Mere - a small town in Wiltshire. It lies at the extreme southwestern tip of Salisbury Plain close to the borders of Somerset and Dorset and is a very lovely place to visit.
Angel Corner Tea Room, until 1969 was the Angle Inn has been visited by me several times and is an excellent example of a tea room. Being on the corner has it advantages, as the windows are large glass panels and people, watching while you take lunch and enjoy a pot of tea is great. There is also a leather sofa which is slightly hidden from view which I just love, and the locals are nice people to talk to. The lemon drizzle cake is particularly nice and two pieces would be better to get the taste!
There is an unusual selection of African gifts on sale in the Angel Corner Tea Room and I brought a lovely African necklace for Sandra which she loved.
If you love gardens, you must visit Stourhead Gardens which is accessible via Mere and will simply take your breath away.
STATUS
I would recommend the Angle Corner Tea Room and when I visit Peter, I always ring him to tell him I am an hour away from arriving, when in fact I am in the tea room across the road from his house!
RE-VISIT
I revisted the Angel Corner Tea Room on Wednesday 4th August 2010 and, as usual, lovely food and lovely staff. The owner, Imogen Richardson was preparing and serving the food and it was nice to see this tea room busy with happy local and visiting folk.
